About us

Built to close a gap that shouldn't exist.

Settlemint was built to change a simple imbalance: legal costs come due immediately, while assets often stay innaccessible until resolution. Too often, outcomes reflect who can keep going, not what’s fair. We bring institutional discipline and the judgment this area demands.

Our Mission

The outcome of a divorce should reflect your rights, not your cash balance

Family law has a structural quirk: attorneys can't work on contingency. That means every divorce must be funded as it progresses, from resources that are often tied up in the very estate the case is about. One side can keep paying. The other can't. Outcomes diverge accordingly. We don't think the law intended that. And we built Settlemint so it doesn't have to play out that way.

WHO WE ARE

The people behind Settlemint

Family law and structured finance expertise.

Jamie Harrison

Founder & CEO

Jamie's career has spanned private credit, consumer finance, and venture-backed operating roles. He previously co-founded and served as COO of Karus, a venture-backed financial technology company in consumer credit and asset-based finance. Before that, he was a founding team member of Franklin Venture Partners, the private investment arm of Franklin Templeton's Equity Group.

Nicole Noonan

Executive in Residence & Platform Lead

Nicole has spent more than a decade in divorce finance and family law. A former matrimonial attorney and member of the New Jersey Bar, she founded and led New Chapter Capital, an independent U.S. platform in divorce funding. Her work has been featured in The New York Times, Forbes, Bloomberg, and Good Morning America — and the New York Post once called her 'the Fairy Godmother of Divorce.' Nicole now applies that experience as a founding team member of Settlemint, helping oversee attorney relationships, underwriting, and platform operations.

The Difference

What makes Settlemint different

The only funding platform built specifically for divorce. Designed to be a stable, long-term partner for attorneys and their clients.

Built for divorce

Settlemint exists for one purpose. The structure, the review, the attorney relationship, all designed around how family law actually works.

Every case reviewed on its own.

We evaluate each matter individually, on the merits of the case and the marital estate. No templates. No shortcuts.

Integrated with your attorney.

We coordinate with your law firm but never direct strategy or interfere with representation. Our job is to fund the work, not to shape it.

We only get paid if you do.

Every advance is repaid from what you recover. If there is no recovery, there is no repayment. That structure shapes every decision we make about who we fund and how.

Our approach

How we work

Transparency

Every term in writing, in plain language, before anything is signed. No surprises. No fine print.

Ethics first

We hold ourselves to the standard of the attorneys we work with. Nothing we do should create a conflict for your counsel or a question for you.

Discretion

What you share stays within our review team. We never contact the other party. Your information does not leave the matter.

Partnership

When something changes in your case, we adapt. When you have questions, you reach someone who actually knows the matter.
